Simply put, Sophia is what we consider a Celebroid: A Celebrity Humanoid. She is a pioneer in the field of humanoid robotics and deploys a sophisticated intelligence that draws on algorithms to form computed thoughts so she can interact with people. While I am not sure what kind of events she has attended already, can anyone think of an event where Sophia would add some flairÉ
While Sophia is a beautiful model for robotic engineers and fans, there is also a lot of cosmetic room for personalization and enhancements. Many functions simply would not want to have a robot that is naked or not resembling some sort of fashion. In the future more humanoid robots will be capable of dressing themselves, formulating daily routines, and even helping around the house, in business, or society.
Sophia sets the bar for how the path to market has been realized. Test cases of Sophia performing prove her intelligence works and future possibilities await!
